Yet more Links!

I add links because one of the goals of this site it to provide a one stop source for finding your way around the internet gaming world.

First off I bring you Retro Remakes, where you can find alot of those old school games when you have a desire for some nostalgia.

Secondly I bring you R.O.S.E. which was suggested by a reader. This anime RPG world features 7 planets, war on a planetary scale, and a dynamic world where much of the world is influenced by it's users.

Thirdly is Flyff "Fly for Fun", this is yet another anime rpg type game online where the theme is flying. Looks very interesting, alot of classes to choose from and the interface and options look pretty robust.

And finally, Battlefield 2, this latest installment in the Battlefield line is very cool. It has a great commander / squad system for intuitive co-operative play for those who take the time to work together. The graphics and game play are top notch and this is the kind of game that makes me wish I had more time to play games! It has an online ranking system where you can earn medals and even unlock new weapons to use in this ultimate warfare simulation. More than just going and killing, this gives you something to strive for and is a great plus! 8.5 out of 10! (mini-review)

Review

World of Warcarft. If you have any interest in multiplayer online games and can afford the 14.95 per month subscription fee then you definatly have to take a look at this one. The gameplay is smooth, graphics are beautiful, the content is great, and much more. The quest system is pretty good and deserves mention as well. You do not have to spend any time 'Grinding' out levels unless you want to. There are plenty of quests to drive you and give you goals to accomplish.

I have a fairly large history of mmorpg games that I have gone through and this will always remain in a top 3 position for me. There are some complaints that the 'end-game' does not hold a player's interest as it could. Blizzard is constantly working on new content of course to apease the high level players, but part of the large population of high level players is from the fact that this has one of the fastest level progression structures I have ever seen. If you are a hardcore player you can reach maximum level 60 within a couple months easy. I have been in games where at the same pace it would take you a good 15 months to reach that. In fact one game it took me 4 years but that was because of my own pace.

The atmosphere that WoW brings is top notch. The PvP optional side is a great plus if you have the need to fight intelligent foes. There are also pure PvP enabled servers too where you really have to be careful! WoW builds on a huge following and I believe currently has over 3 million subscribers, more than any game I know of ever reaching. The challenge will be for Blizzard to hold on to it's player base over time.

This game is great fun and I give it a solid 8.5 out of 10. It definatly has some room to grow and I expect Blizzard to improve this into an even better game as time goes on.

Review: Maple Story

This weeks Review is on the FREE multiplayer online side-scrolling anime game Maple Story. I ran across a review of this game a month or so and could not resist the free aspect of it. I figured my kids and I could play this together, we have 3 computers set up and this was some low end requirements so why not? We quickly found that Maple Story was fun, cute, and addictive. You get a choice between 4 classes and some basic looks to choose from. (You get to 'buy' other looks later, this and other things are how the company makes their money). The sidescrolling aspect isn't bad, takes you back to the 'Mario/Zelda' days but with fun anime style. You have keyboard commands to put different facial emotion expressions on your characters face and of course, chat with chat bubbles over your head with all the other players. You get to make groups and just go around killing things and getting loot and experience, and when your done doing that, you do it again, and again, and again. With very little as far as quests to hold your interest this can easily turn into the first downside you may run into. But if Free and Anime hold your attention well enough then this is the game for you. I give it a 6 out of 10. Great graphics, ease of play and computer requirments. Decent community, unkown customer support as I did not check it, I find it to be an all around fun game. -D
